I feel like the phrase, "because why not, anime?" perfectly sums up this volume, but not in a bad way. I love how this series embraces how ridiculous it is, but it's not so nonsensical that you can't have fun with it. Saitama is a great character I love this spin on the "strongest protagonist" trope, mostly because it's a realistic take on it. Not every superhero who becomes all-powerful is going to be overjoyed or overconfident; some may become disillusioned, like Saitama, because now that he's achieved greatness he can't go any further and is solely reliant on villains putting up a challenge, which most can't. It's a somber depiction of this trope, but I like how the series isn't weighed down by this sadness. It remains lighthearted and fun, which suits it well.

This was a great first volume and an intro to the series. I know this series has been overhyped in the past, but I highly recommend it. It may not be the most "deep" or "impacting" story, but it's a fuck ton of fun and that's what makes it worthwhile.
