I very rarely nitpick-I’m a go with the
flow/vibes reader, but 2 very small things bothered me. First, is when the new recruits get their workout uniforms & there were 5 piles stacked on their chairs. There are 6 in the class, why only 5 stacks? Or is it to mean 5 stacks for each of the 6? The other was when Raine tripped over Draven & it seemed like Draven should’ve been speaking but it was Nazul, who I guess could’ve been there, too, but it was just awkwardly written in my opinion.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story & look forward to reading the second book in this series.

This book was really up and down for me - there are definitely some plot points that are way too tropey, the chemistry between the leads isn’t well developed, and I really couldn’t stand the MMC. Not to mention the absolute pick-me love triangle and lack of self respect the FMC has. The plot, overall, was pretty decent, and if the FMC wasn’t such a pick-me, I really would have overlooked the other complaints.

With that being said, I absolutely LOVED the twist! I think it makes up for some of the issues I had and I’m absolutely trusting the vision of the authors. I think we’re well setup for the reveals in book 2 and the tone will be quite different and more in the realm of what I enjoy.

If you liked House of Beating Wings or Avalon Tower, you will probably enjoy this.

when will I learn to stop trusting popular book recs (extra star just for the ending though)
