Boring as fuck. Took me forever to get through, and I felt like I didn’t know the characters on a deeper level. There was no connection, no development that allowed me to really connect with each one. I DID not get the draw to the general, I thought he was fine but like…. Idk if the author just isn’t into writing romantic relationships but he left a. Lot to be desired. Like when they finally had sex it felt like it came out of left field??? Like there was no brooding, no small moments, just nothing from him and the main character was attracted to him but he was literally giving her nothing. Debated on reading book two but hoping this new guy gives me what I NEED! I need TENSION!
Okay! This book was such a good read. And the end?! What was happening? I need book 2!! 🤭🤭🤭

The fantasy elements were interesting and unique. I don’t know how I feel about the romance, it felt like it happened way too quickly but wasn’t like.. special idk. I’m interested to see where this story goes but for a first book I wasn’t totally obsessed
Incredible!!! So many fun elements. I love when a romantasy feels like a true fantasy book. The world was built so well. I loved the magical military academy vibe, and of course, THIS BOOK HAS A SWEET PLOT TWST/ CLIFF HANGER. One of my favorite books of 2024, up there with Quicksilver & When the Moon Hatched.
3.5 stars - the first half was sooo slow but the cliffhanger is enough to make me add book 2 to the TBR
