Double Play

C.L. Rose

3.93 AVERAGE

I don’t know how C.L Rose did it, but I fell and fell HARD for both these men. I knew this book was going to be spicy and man it did not disappoint.

Hawk and Jackson are best friends, teammates, and roommates. They do everything together and their friendship is a truly beautiful experience. They bring out the best in each other. They may not have romantic feelings for each other but man do they share so well.

Arden has worked so hard for what she wanted, to be a pro volleyball player. Up until this point she has struggled but is ready to prove herself, but there is one problem. To achieve her dream, she has to move in with her stepbrother and his moody (yet very attractive) roommate.

Jackson and Arden have always been best friends and they each had a way of calming each other. Hawk has been around in the background for years. The bond that these three share just cannot be described quickly, it must be experienced in the book.

This book was spicy, fun and surprisingly deep and emotional at times. Arden and Hawk both struggle with anxiety and watching them help each other and for the three of them to create such safe spaces with each other and their found family was truly a joy to read about.

Thank you, C.L Rose and Wordsmith Publicity, for the ARC of this book.

Thank you CL Rose for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I should know by now that CL Rose will never disappoint. And her first time writing MFM? Yea, it was hot. The dynamics between Jacks, Hawk, and Arden were beyond anything I could have imagined. The friendship between Jacks and Hawk is so pure. You can tell how much they love one another. Then you bring Arden into the mix, and their dynamic changes, but in a way that is so, so good. π˜›π˜©π˜’π˜΅ 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘀𝘦𝘯𝘦 - π˜ͺ𝘺𝘬𝘺𝘬.

I always appreciate the real struggles that CL Rose adds into her books too. Arden deals with heavy anxiety, and it's a prominent theme throughout the book. It's not brushed over and takes a look at how building habits to cope with anxiety and having a support system can make a huge difference. It was also fun seeing the FMC be a professional athlete, especially in volleyball. It's a character I feel you don't see a lot of in sports romance.

Anyways, to all my smut loving people out there, you will want to read this book. It's part of an interconnected series, and you'll enjoy the characters more if you've read CL Rose's other books, but you don't HAVE to read them to enjoy Double Play. (Though I think you'll love all of her books if you love spicy, kinky sports romance).

Well Candice knocked it out of the park again, and the first with a Why Choose, yes please, give me more!!!

Hawk and Jackson are best friends, teammates, roommates, they do everything together. I truly enjoyed their friendship. They have the kind of bond that comes once in a lifetime with friends and it was something special.

Arden has struggled to prove her worth in so many ways and the anxiety rep that was portrayed was soooo good and I felt that I could relate to her on so many levels.

When Arden came crashing in to their life, honestly she was their missing piece, the glue that held them together, the person they didn't know they were missing but definitely needed in their life.

I really enjoyed the development as individuals, but I was blown away with the way the relationship developed. They each add something to their relationship and balance it out. The amount of emotions that I went through while reading this was insane.

Every book that Candice writes just gets better and better, I love this series so much and these three hold a special place in my heart.

Double Play was such a heartfelt and emotional ride, with the perfect balance of spice, angst, and vulnerability. I didn’t expect to fall so hard for this throuple, but C.L. Rose delivered a story that felt both raw and real.

Arden is a pro volleyball player dealing with anxiety, and the way her mental health was represented felt so honest and relatable. Between Hawkβ€”the grumpy, guarded chef with a soft spot for exactly two peopleβ€”and Jacksonβ€”the sweet, selfless golden boy who just wants to love Arden out loudβ€”this story gave us two incredibly different but equally lovable heroes. And the best part? They both made sense for her in completely different ways.

The dynamic between the three was so well done. Jackson and Hawk’s friendship was one of my favorite parts of the storyβ€”there’s so much history and trust there, and watching them navigate loving the same woman without losing each other? LOVE!

This story had so much heart. It’s about love, yes, but also healing, growth, and choosing happinessβ€”even when it doesn’t look the way you expected it to.

Highly recommend if you love sports romance, found family, mental health rep, and complex love stories that make you feel everything.

Holy hotness. CL Rose knows how to write spice and where she goes had me blushing, squirming (warning: NSF public consumption haha!). At the heart of this story though is a picture of anxiety & the support system our FMC Arden gets from her two boyfriends, Hawk & Jackson.

Arden & Jackson "Jacks" grew up together as best friends & were almost romantically involved until their parents got married. Step siblings who kept a respectable distance, Arden gets drafted to the pro volleyball team in Florida & Jacks offers her a place to stay, that includes his best friend Hawk. Roommates, the 3 of them find a unique dynamic when Arden has feelings for both of them.

I really loved the different stories that played out between the 3 of them...

Hawk is a closed off, grumpy, tattooed & pierced pro baseball player who had a rough childhood. His hard dom persona is one Arden needs. They form a deep connection & for the first time, Hawk wants more than just a temporary physical connection.

Sweet Jacks! The pining this man had for Arden lasted a decade! He puts Arden's needs above his own & my heart melted for him. He's the soft dom to Hawk's hard & the balance to this threesome. Arden & he have this amazing connection built on friendship & history. LOVED their story!

Arden is a fierce MMC who learns how to battle her anxiety & really takes what she wants. I loved her vulnerability. She's there for her two boys as much as they are for her & I just adored her.

Jacks & Hawk's dynamic is so special & I love the depiction of a true friendship built on respect & love. There is no romance between them, but as Hawk recognizes Arden's need for both of them, he's happy to build a new relationship that includes Jackson. He loves his friend so much & doesn't want to ever risk losing him. SO SWEET!

I am so sad to see this series end but so excited for the new series that is introduced! CL Rose mixes spice with emotion so well & I just can't get enough of her writing.

The second C.L. Rose announced she was giving us a MFM, I was FERAL and knew I was going to devour this book!

When Arden is drafted to Florida for their women's pro volleyball team, she ends up going to stay with her stepbrother and his best friend until she can get settled in and find her own place.

I instantly fell in love with both Jackson and Hawk for different reasons and their friendship is truly goals.  Hawk, a man who feels so broken and doesn't let anyone in, && Jacks, a man who's been pining over the same woman for years - both of them perfectly fit with Arden and they become her safe space and it's so beautiful!  And the spice between them is so freaking good, but I expected nothing less!  Their chemistry makes it so obvious that they were meant to be and I absolutely loved their story!

What to expect:
-MFM
-Baseball player MMCs
-Volleyball player FMC
-Stepbrother x Stepbrother's bestie
-Forbidden
-Roommates
-Anxiety rep
-Soft dom vs hard dom

Thank you so much to C.L. Rose for letting me read/review an ARC of this book!  This series has quickly become a favorite that I will be re-reading!
