I absolutely loved this book. Even though biology isn’t usually a topic I read about, Eve was captivating and accessible from start to finish. The author skillfully intertwines scientific research with engaging storytelling, making complex concepts easy to understand while keeping me hooked throughout.
By placing women at the centre of our evolutionary history, Bohannon offers a fresh and comprehensive feminist perspective on who we are and how we got here. Her book challenges traditional narratives, invites reflection, and leaves you with a deeper appreciation for the role of women in shaping our species and world. I found the book to be not only illuminating but also profoundly inspiring: a read that felt both empowering and self(or sex)-affirming, celebrating women’s agency, resilience, and centrality in our shared story.
The book was not just educational but completely engaging and, despite the unfamiliar subject matter (science is not my forte), I found myself reading it eagerly. I would highly recommend it to anyone and have bought multiple copies to give as presents to friends and family.

[ finally finished this]
This was laborious to get through on audiobook (the narration by the author was great though). Maybe it is better as a conventional read. The chapters seemed to go on forever and were sprinkled by really interesting facts here and there. I enjoyed the Cat Bohannon's humour and research, even though evolutionary biologists are rather critical of the scientific accuracy presented. I'm not a biologist, so I can't comment on the science - only that the chapters are a bit long winded.
[update at 38% of the way in] Super interesting so far. My favorite chapter is Milk. The ensuing chapters are progressively less interesting, but the narration is engaging so I'm not giving up yet.
Chapter 1: Milk
Chapter 2: Womb
Chapter 3: Perception
Chapter 4: Legs
Chapter 5: Tools
Chapter 6: Brain
Chapter 7: Voice
Chapter 8: Menopause
Chapter 9: Love

LOVED: the very thorough and researched way that each theme was looked at. The text was dense with information but written in a really fun way to read! Not dry at all. I really enjoyed the writing style as well as the way the information were presented and researched. It was truly fascinating.
I really enjoyed everything that was based in scientific research. I jived less with her theoretical speculations in the last two chapters. She is very clear about the fact that what she says is her own theory (and she backs it up with contruscted arguments and all) but they didn't convince me, so I took away less from those last 2 chapters. I was also confused about her definition of menopause??? Can we call it menopause only when a sufficient number of females of the species have it? why?? Idk it left me confused.
But really loved it overall and loved the message and how she shows the influence of the female body and its evolution on the global evolution of humankind. Truly fascinating!

This book was so Informative and interesting and a pretty fun read for the material.
I was concerned going into a book focused on male/female sex difference that it would not feel inclusive of gender expansive identities. Though the author focuses on the general “norms” of cis women’s bodies, she discussed trans and gender diverse folks as very healthy and normal parts of existence.
I really enjoyed hearing about the evolutionary biology that has led to the bodies we have today and the ways in which women’s bodies have shaped human existence.
