Wow, this installment really brought it all! Suspense, romance, character development galore... This is how you build on what you've already established as a base for your main characters. I love the introduction of Robin here in a way that seems very organic, Max really gets a time to shine again (her character is so interesting), and, of course, there's our main duo (plus Kong of course). THIS is how you bring Beast Boy and Raven together in an organic way built on mutual trust, experience, and concern for each other. Kudos to this story for not shying away from the emotional aspects of the character's stories and dealing with difficult topics like kidnapping and torture (familiar areas in comics of course). Can't wait to see what happens next!

I really liked Gar and Raven in this. Sure, the romance was a little rushed, but it felt genuine. There's a real tenderness that comes through in Gabriel Picolo's art throughout this series that really shines here.

Ok, time for me to get nit-picky. You see, I know I might be in the minority here, but I actually like when Damian Wayne is a whiny little bitch boy. I think it's funny that he's a little cunt that everyone hates a little at first until they get to know and understand him. That's interesting to me because it's unique to him, and that's why I love him. None of that is present here though. He's calm, he's supportive, and he falls for the first girl he comes across, and it's boring. He deserves better than that.

I loved seeing Raven and Gar together. Max and Damian are a great team. But something is off with Damian characterisation. Like, he’s Raven and Gar’s age… so what’s happening with his dad? I mean Bruce ain’t always the best father but come on, he still cares about him. And his brothers??? Even Dick??? Like idk. At least seems like he has a great relationship with his mom. And the romance between Max and Him??? No !

I  loved this so much!! I absolutely adore Raven and Beast Boy together and I didn't know that this will also introduce Robin into the story which was very fun to read about. Looking forward to the other volumes!!!

The first two books were good, but this one was great! Everything culminated, and the addition of Damian as fourth squad member was the cherry on top. Gar and Raven are an adorable couple—they really balance each other out because he’s goofy and reckless, and she’s more calm and careful but shy, and he brings her out of her shell, and she makes him more considerate. The climax in the H.I.V.E. facility was awesome—the sequences of Beast Boy’s forced transformation and Trigon’s release from Raven’s amulet were absolutely glorious. This graphic novel was better than the two before because it made a more interesting and cute dynamic between these two teens going through similar supernatural struggles, they find more kinship than with their previous friends because they both understand what it is to consider yourself a monster. The subplot of Damian and Max was hilarious—their banter is great, playful and dry, but also brimming with potential. Kong is a pretty good comic relief, and much better than Marcel from Friend—he wasn’t forced. He and Beast Boy have a relationship that is enjoyable to see, instead of Marcel and Ross’s really cringy relationship. This book set up a lot for the next installments in this franchise (with a quick glimpse at someone who appears to be Starfire) and played off of the best elements of the previous novels. I’ve never been a graphic novel person really, but I’ll definitely consider them more now because of these.

This was so extremely heterosexual when my love of teen titans is so very gay. Anyway, I enjoy how Picolo draws these characters so I will probably keep picking them up. It does make me roll my eyes a lot though.
