The cover art and blub alone had me locked in from the get-go, but let me tell you the illustrations and storyline are so enchanting and a little spooky. I thought it was going to be scarier than what it actually was and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Ghost Roast!

This was almost a 3 star read for me which I classify as being an enjoyable read but would not re - read.
I found there were a few questions at the end left unanswered. There was no explination as to why it the manor was turned into a historical location rather than investor like the owner, not the old lady wanted, and a lot of unanswered plot lines that were set up, like her friends seeming to no a bit superficial and not understanding her
I did not mind it but would have liked a bit more story development, the ending made it just under 3 star for me

This was so cute and a fast paced read. I loved every minute of it. Spooky, funny, beautiful to look at. Overall I think it pulled me out of my reading slump!

Ghost Roast is a fun middle grade comic. I loved it was written by 2 black sisters and the illustrator is a woman from India. Minority girl power. The story is cute and so age appropriate. It tackles restoration of old slave plantations, slavery and the dirty secrets they house. I loved the diversity of the characters and the kids, just being bratty kids. Very real and honest. Great story.
