This was a great read with lovely illustrations and the colors made the characters and settings come to life. I’ve been watching a lot of ghosty shows lately and this book felt right up my alley. The only reason I’m knocking off a half star is I do think there could have been more resolution between our main character and her friends. It felt like the friends had certain judgements and comments they made that I thought would come back and be discussed as we wrapped up the story but that aspect wasn’t really resolved more tied up with a bow. That being said the resolution with the family and in delving into local history was well done and a great way to share complex topics in a graphic novel format. Highly recommend this read!

Really enjoyed this one. I was captivated from the very start, and was certain this was going to be a 5 star read. But sadly the ending left much to be desired, and I felt everything wrapped up way too quickly.
I started off really loving this one, and just wish it nailed the ending.
The artwork is incredible however. Both the illustrator and colorist are so incredibly skilled, and I need more of this gorgeous artwork in my life!

I really enjoyed this book! The premise immediately caught my attention and it did not disappoint. Ghost Roast has a lot of heart, a lot of history, and a lot of fun. The characters were so real and so enjoyable to read about. A few even subverted my expectations of who they are in a pleasant way. I know this is a stand alone story but I would love to see more adventures of Chelsea and the Ghost Roast team!

Read this on a whim and glad I did!
As someone who grew up in the South, I am familiar with the complicated relationship many people have with old plantation houses. While they are important parts of US's history of enslavement, too many people romanticize them, as seen by the many plantation weddings every year. I agree with the sentiment that they should be teaching tools, not venues.
As for the story, I think what intrigued me the most of the dad's take on ghost hunting. His philosophy was mostly based on wanting to help people and prevent the tragedy he experienced with his grandmother from happening again. I do think that the romance between Chelsea and Oliver hindered the story a bit, but then again I am not the target audience.
I do think there is more story to be had here, but I am satisfied with the conclusion.
