Loved that! A (mostly) light-hearted graphic novel with a really cute art design & color scheme, would be interested to read another installment in the series but it ended in a way that makes me think there wont be another book in the series.

The color scheme of this graphic novel is soft and you can feel this whimsical magical atmosphere created.

This is a perfect example of when the writing and illustrations work together. I couldn’t put this one down and it’s one I’ll definitely be recommending to others. The illustrations were absolutely gorgeous and it’s clear that this team understood the assignment. I loved the growth in Chelsea’s character arc. The paranormal aspect works within the storyline in such a fluid way.

I thought Ghost Roast was lovely and cute. The art style is to die for! It’s so pretty! I love how much detail they put in the braids for Chelsea, the mc! All of her hairstyles were super cute. I might copy her! This story is based in New Orleans and the history of enslavement that takes place there. There’s also ghosts and a haunted house, but nothing is too frightening! It’s a cute ya graphic novel with a Black mc that’s just trying to be normal and fit in! The story definitely keeps you engaged til the end! And the end was very swoon worthy (there was a romantic subplot)! I would recommend and I want more people to read it because I thought it was so precious. The only thing that bothered me was how small the text was in some parts. In my opinion, it was hard to read sometimes. So do with that what you will. But I thought it was cute and want to read more graphic novels now.
