adventurous fast-paced

Unlike the other books in the series, this one felt a bit rushed. There were repetitive phrases and the action scenes were a little choppy. The big climax was rather a letdown because there was a big build up to the battle only for nothing to happen. I'm also a little disappointed that Flanagan chose to indulge in the "White Savior" trope. After the rebellion, the Emperor's only source of hope is from the European characters. Even when the main instigator is killed, it's Will who kills him, which only serves to emasculate the older Emperor who can't even do what the younger man can.

Great book! My favorite so far! Onto the next :)

This was a good conclusion to the original story. Will, Horace, Evelyn, and Alyssa have fully grown up and are really making a difference in their world. Glad to see the
