"I would save you a thousand times over, knowing exactly what would happen, knowing even worse possible. I would have never, not in one scenario, not come for you, not taken you from there."

Cue my internal screaming!

Don't mind me just staring ahead, looking at my e-reader in disbelief that I have nothing left to read.
The feels, the excitement, the shock ... This book was sheer perfection.
I couldn't put the book down. I was constantly trying (and mostly failing) to predict what was going to happen next.

'Hello, lover.'

I loved the forbidden romance, the (unfair?) challenges Lyr is being put through, the 'touch her and you die' and 'Who did this to you?' vibes and Rhyan ... OBVIOUSLY.
This slow burn, high fantasy is a top tier book that easily made it to my list of favorites.

If you thought Daughter of the drowned empire was good, Guardian of the drowned empire is even better!
You should just drop everything and get lost in this amazing world.
Just wait and see how Lyr will defy her odds and tears the f*cking rope with the help of her partner.

Thank you Frankie, you've made me farther then Lethea for this series and like i said after finishing the first book: 'I need the next one ASAP!'
Really don't know how I'm gonna manage waiting for book 3.

Well what can I say? I struggle with 2nd books in series. I just wish I could skip them all.
That being said, this book was awfully depressing for my overwhelming week and this is clearly a me thing - not a this book thing.
It was both underwhelming and overwhelming at once for me. But - don’t take my word for it. I have a history of disliking 2nd books in series and this might just be it.
A lot of things are still unanswered… and I wish the FMC went through more character development because she’s still very immature to me

I still recommend this series and will read the rest someday - when reading depressing books will be fine with me lol

I can see how book 1+2 were initially one, as felt the end/start were initially not quite strong, but for the rest it was so good! I felt so tense and nervous throughout. Great characters and story.

His nose nudged against my hair, arms pulling me against his chest. "If you keep that up, I won't have any brain cells left to spar with you."
He swallowed a moan as the carriage bounced, causing me to shift againt him. I ran my fingers across his arm. "You still have brain cells left?"
"Questionable."

This book was a freaking rollercoaster that had me sweating out all my minerals from start to finish

WHAT I LIKED:
This book occurs pretty much right after the last one. There is such a thrill with these books watching her having to balance her sisters, her royalty status, and her unknown result in weather or not she can pass the emperor’s test. There are multiple questions throughout this book, most of them are answered.. but the mystery of everything and the drama keeps you hooked.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
These books do keep you in suspense, but they also seem to take forever to get to the point. And just when you think you have finally found the answers you were looking for, you are left with more Cliff hangers. It’s a great storyline with too many unanswered questions.

OVERALL / RECOMMENDATIONS:
This is a good book, a good series so far… it is just one of those stories that may be enjoyed better if they were all read back to back. Now I am waiting on the next book so that I can hopefully get the answers I need.
