The beginning was slow. This author does not understand the concept of show, don’t tell. And all the plot twists were super obvious even from the last book. But again I got sucked into the romance because at least that was good.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review- I need book 3 right now. Immediately. This was AMAZING JUST LIKE THE FIRST ONE. But that cliffhanger?!?! So cruel! The characters, the plot, the romance, the world *chef’s kiss* I love this series. I’m going to go cry about having to wait until who knows when for book 3.
I don’t know how I’m gonna survive until next year for book 3. That ending

There was crack in this book. So many thoughts were running through my mind and I just gotta say I hope you have the next book ready. Just about everything I wanted to happen happened and it was amazing.
I have been surprised how much I have enjoyed this series so far! I really came into reading these books with zero expectations but flew through both and am looking forwarded to the third. Character development and plot movement have been great, the series has great pacing with the romance and plot revelations. The author incorporates many fantasy trope favorites but has unique plot and world building elements that give a fresh take. In general I love having a change from an all powerful FMC, and love see a main character progress and develop their skills versus just being granted them. I love the dynamic between the main romance and can only hope for more in the next installment!
