✨SPOILERS✨………………………………………….. …………………………………………..…………………………………………..………………………………………………….

💫Rhyan coming in strong at the beginning of this book 📖. I almost forgot Tristan is still in the picture. What’s he been up to anyways, while ‘the love of his life’ is being treated this way?  There’s just something I hate about a man that’s too scared to do what’s right, for fear it will make him or his family look bad.

There’s just something about this forbidden love that has me hooked. “It’s killing me to have to see you get hurt. To not be able to kill every last one of those Moriel-f-cking bastards who touch you.”

This is how an honorable man behaves. Not like that BS Tristan spouts.

It’s like now that Tristan can see what she’s going through, he’s more distant. Not cool! This should be where he stands up and proves himself

“One more run. You’ve got this. No rope can hold you. No cage can trap you.” “Tear the fucking rope apart,”

I will say, I am all for the spicy scenes. That scene after the seraphim head was found, was perfect….. with the exception that Lyr is still with Tristan. And that doesn’t sit right with me. I know she needs his families allegiance, or she thinks she does, but cheating never feels right to me. Even if Rhyan is perfect and they’re meant to be.

📖how can the term of endearment “partner” feel more intimate than “lover”?  No clue. But it does.

✨”you’re healing. It’s not a linear process. You don’t get to graduate or cross some threshold without looking back and never feel pain again. It’s messy and ugly.” What a great description of grief. ✨

Overall adored this book. I was hooked the whole time. Couldn’t put it down bc I needed to know what was going to happen next. And the bomb dropped on the last page!?  Thank god I’m not reading as this was published, bc I would not have handled waiting for the next book.

Well there’s a twist I didn’t see coming. This was just as good, if not better than the first. I cannot wait for the next one…things seem tenuously hopeful for the moment. I need to see where this goes. Rhyan owns my heart

I was so close to giving this book 3 stars because the beginning is such a slog - but the last 1/3 of the book makes it all worth it!!!

Given how much I enjoyed the first book, this was kind of a disappointing follow-up. I liked where the story was heading, but it feels like it’s just taking so long to get there. As for the characters, they were so nicely written initially, but now they are just getting more annoying and less layered by the chapter.

I absolutely loved the way Rhyan was portrayed in #1, but now he reads like lovesick puppy, and he lost all his edge. The slow-burn is also burning way too slow. At this point, you can bet that whenever they start anything, they will get interrupted. Every single fucking time. And it’s getting kind of old.

As for Lyriana, I have a bone to pick with her. She is a woman shows us time and time again that she believes that she is powerless when faced with powerful men, and it is driving me NUTS. She may not match their physical or magical strength, that is understandable, but for crying out loud she keeps going on about how she grew up in court politics. And not once, not ONCE when she is faced with a powerful male enemy does she even consider to be cunning, to use her wits, to maybe try to outsmart them, to do anything but slip on her ‘mask’ and submit entirely. I know misogyny is a trigger warning in this book but for Pete's sake I don’t have the patience to wait for 3 books for the female MC to finally revolt against it.
