This book left me breathless. I had the absolute pleasure of receiving this as an ARC—a double-edged sword since now I have longer to wait for Book 3.

Once again BLOWN AWAY!!

"There's only one thing I'm sure about. Right or wrong, I'd break my oath a thousand times for you."

I couldn't put this book down! I usually pride myself in being able to predict things but this book kept me on my toes and every turn was a shock in the best way! I couldn't put it down until I devoured the whole thing, Lyr is so relatable to me and this book grabbed my emotions in such a away that I just got so sucked in and I didn't want to leave.

If you love Slow Burn, Forbidden Romance, High Fantasy, 'Who did this to you?', one bed tropes then this series is for you!

I have no idea how I'm going to manage the wait for book 3 because I need more asap. I fell in love with Rhyan more and more as this book went on. This series is easily one of my favorites and its not even complete yet!

I'm about to go reread it because I literally can't get enough of this world Frankie built!

**I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.**

What? Why did it end like that?

Very great follow up to book one. This story started out pretty slow. Most of the book was filled with self doubt and forbidden love. About 75% through the book is when things pick up again and we find Lyr were she left off in book one.

"No ropes can hold you. No cage can trap you. You get scared—you see that rope in your mind. And you tear that fucking rope apart."

everything about this book was perfect from start to finish. i could talk your ear off about this world for hours if you’d let me.

”I wish—“ His voice broke. “I wished that someone—anyone had circled back, hadn’t taken my word, hadn’t believed my lies, and had asked me—asked me just one more time if I was okay. Because I think if I’d been asked once more, I would have told them everything.”

one and a half book of slow burn but finally lyr and rhyan said fck the oaths at the 50% mark and gave us something. and continued giving throughout the book. rhyan continues training lyriana for her upcoming trial, where she’ll have to prove to the emperor that the absence magic in her is no obstacle and that she can be a soturion, a soldier as strong and capable as all others.

lyriana fears she’ll fail, but luckily she has rhyan in her corner. rhyan, who truly believes in her strength –even when lyriana herself doesn’t. rhyan, who teaches her everything she needs to know, pushes her beyond her limits and helps her realise that she is strong enough to go above and beyond these limits.

“I won’t lose you,” he said. “Of all the oaths I swore, this one I will hold. I will keep you safe.”
