Beautifully written and gut-wrenching to the end. A sad and tragic tale set against the backdrop of one of history’s most interesting mysteries, the dancing plague of 1518. As in another novel by this same author, The Mercies, the story explores the way that religion and fear impact the lives of women. I think this one will still with me for a while.
