what a great read. i am not usually into fiction of any kind, however this historical fiction was fantastic! the pace was good and enough accurate historical references to keep me interested! i loved it, highly recommend! 5 stars it is :)

I found this book a little slow to get into, and in parts throughout, however it was an enjoyable read. I loved the writing style and the themes that came up from nature, to grief, to mental illness and paganism. I think Kiran has a real knack for describing things beautifully and really making you visualise the story. I felt at times I was there, seeing and smelling the scenes!

I enjoyed this. it was a little tough to get into but around the halfway point i started flying through it. it was tough to keep the characters straight at first but i really did enjoy this. i don't know who i would recommend it to. i enjoyed the queer characters, i enjoyed the family aspect, and the discussion of pregnancy loss. i haven't read many (if any) books about that and i enjoyed it.
