The only thing that really keep me in interest was the story of the Ives' story, and the twist, while not entirely surprising, is emotional.

Haven’t stayed up late to finish a book in a long time, but here I am crying at 1am!! What a beautiful story from Emily Henry, I loved how much historical/literary fiction she wove into her usual romance because this was soooo up my alley, I will always read anything she puts out but I hope we get another like this. The storytelling, the family relationships and drama, the yearning!!!!, the emotions!! So so so good.

“I find myself thinking that maybe every bit of heartbreak in life can be rearranged and used for something beautiful. That it doesn't really matter whether I chose this path or I was born onto it, so long as I stop and appreciate the path itself.”

My least favorite Emily Henry to date. It wasn't terrible, just boring.

The lead couple and their romance was pretty unconvincing and Margaret's story just wasn't interesting to me. The big reveal was predictable and not worth slogging through all this family history for.

The overall vibe was different enough from previous books that I forgot I was reading a Emily Henry novel.
