For all the high fantasy I've been reading recently, with their political intrigue and complex magic systems, I have to say that it's nice to slow down and digest a simpler story. LWW gets a bit rushed at times (especially at the end), but at the end of the day, it's a children's book. Gotta cut it some slack for the heavy lifting it did to popularize the fantasy genre as a whole.

The allegory in C.S. Lewis' masterpiece series may be too literary for a young child to identify but the spirituality it conveys transcends typical religious stereotypes anyway. While there are some faults (especially with sexism and racism), an educated reader will put these criticisms aside (it was written in a vastly different time) and enjoy the magic and mystery that Lewis weaves into his prose. The sense of hope, love, and family that these books provide is as strong and beautiful as has ever been written in the English language.

i reread this for the first time in probably 15 years and it still absolutely slaps!!! you can tell that c.s. lewis carefully crafted this story because every single word packed a punch! it’s a delightful story to read for yourself or to your kids
i’d just recommend not leaving them on the cliffhanger that happens in chapter 14

I like the way Lewis writes. Although a bit too fast paced - I would have loved this as a kid.

I do not have much to say about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Not because it was bad, but because it hit every mark and what everyone has said about it the literal 73 years it is has been out is pretty much spot on. It's whimsical, it's charming, and it's brand of nonsense is right up my alley.

I'm interested in seeing where the series goes from here as all my background knowledge ends with this book.
