I went through a stage where anything set in this time frame, in this part of the world, was enough to keep me enthralled. This one was terrific.
Excellent book. I listened to it, and the narrator was outstanding. I now have a full and appalled understanding of what happened when Vesuvius erupted in August of 79 AD, a much better appreciation for Pliny, and more knowledge about Roman society.
