Where to start? The writing was easy to follow, had a nice flow to it. And I think, this is main reason I enjoyed reading it and finished it… I might even be tempted to pick up book 2 for more of Soren… buuuuuut there was a bunch of stuff that didn‘t work very well in this story for me. The big ones:

It started with some creepy Stockholm Syndrome vibes when Rhya was „kidnapped“ - and the way he treated her in the beginning doesn‘t really add up with how he supposedly he saw her. Just weird.

There was no real antagonist. There were threats, yes, but they were too all over the place to be really invested as a reader. It felt like not much was happening in the book….

…. and speaking of not much happening: The romance! Or the lack thereof… I have very little patience with „I can‘t control myself around you“ and the constant distancing himself from her?! Neither intriguing nor attractive.

Soren was waaaaay more interesting and I was so hoping to see more of him. But sadly no… Maybe he will be the reason to pick up book 2… not sure.
