I had no expectations, as Fantasy Romance isn't my favourite genre, but it was fun and quick !
It's not the most original plot, characters or magic system but the world building is strong if not new. It's definitely trope heavy, but if you're looking for a bit a banter and some cool magic, then this is it !
Bonus point for the writing which I enjoyed a lot !
I will definitely try more of Johnson's work and I will pick up the sequel to Wind Weaver with pleasure !

Ich hatte eine schöne Zeit mit diesem Hörbuch! Die Sprecherin Rebecca Veil hat mir sehr gut gefallen und ihre Stimme hat mich von Anfang an in die Story hineingezogen. Auch sehr gut gefallen hat mir die Elementarmagie, dafür bin ich immer zu haben! Gerade die Nebencharaktere sind sehr liebevoll gemacht, dafür fehlt es den Hauptcharakteren an so ziemlich allem. Noch sehr positiv erwähnenswert finde ich, wie casual queere Personen in diesem Buch existieren, das hat mir sehr gefallen!
Sämtliche Handlungen der Protagonisten sind unglaublich vorhersehbar und das Buch konnte mich kein einziges Mal überraschen. Die Geschichte fühlt sich an wie schon mal gelesen und gerade das Liebesdreieck hat starke ACOTAR Vibes. Super schade! Denn von der Elementarmagie hätte ich mir mehr erhofft.
Fazit: Ein weiteres Romantasy Hörbuch, das in der Masse untergeht, aber ganz nett für zwischendurch ist, wenn man etwas Leichtes hören möchte.

i’m literally obsessed. i knew from like chapter 5 that i was going to love this book and i was right!! the characters are amazing and so well fleshed out and complex, the world building is done so well and not in a way that overwhelmes us as readers. The writing style is my favourite part of the book though, i just love the way Julie Johnson writes - it’s deep, thoughtful and compelling without being overly flowery and boring. Also i lovveeeee Penn (and soren). Rhya was another favourite part of the book for me - i tend to find fmcs in romantasy books are too stubborn and have a bit of mary sue syndrome but rhya was complex and interesting without being whiny and annoying. i cannot wait for book 2!! though i will say i can the romance going a certain way in book 2 👀
