What a waste! I will NOT be continuing this series.

This story is not compelling or believable in the least!  It's terribly boring, and the characters are formulaic and lack any depth.  The FMC is continually mistreated by the MMC, yet she can't stop looking to him and defending his character whenever she reminds herself of his abuse towards her.  For example, he
keeps her wrists shackled in iron cuffs—which literally burns her skin off every day—and refuses to remove them for no reason. He also pulls her by the hair, lets her sit in her own filth when she falls ill (and repeatedly complains about her stench), lays her across the back of his horse like a stack of potatoes and keeps her tied there throughout a good portion of their ride to the Northlands—even though she repeatedly asks to be allowed to sit upright, and he often remarks that he wishes he would've left her back where he found her—chained to a tree, sexually assaulted, and about to be murdered—simply because she asks him (her CAPTOR) questions and makes sensible requests.
And yet, she thinks back to how he did occasionally feed her and keep her warm, so apparently that's enough to ignite her interest in him.😑

This FMC is stupid!! He treats her that badly and she doesn't even minutely hate (or fear) him for it?  She merely gives him snarky remarks, which show her character to be that of a one-dimensional moron rather than a traumatized, fearful, and/or angry survivor.
So much for a slow-burn romance, or a smart FMC with any self-preservation instincts.
