Yikes! This is one of the most intense and disturbing books I’ve read. About the struggles and dangers of motherhood, but also a thriller and a horror story. Creeped me out and I don’t know if I could have read it if I was a mom.

Definitely disturbing, but impossible to put down. It reminded me of how I felt when I read “We Need to Talk About Kevin”. I would describe it as a thriller with psychological undertones. The flashbacks to the two generations before provide for lots to think about and discuss.

Slow burn psychological thriller. Chilling end, a really good book easy story to follow.

I devoured this almost in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down, and I can't remember the last time that's happened to me with a book. It's just compelling, and disturbing, and I just had to find out what was going to happen next.

I found this book to be sad and haunting. I started out not loving the way the story is written but after a time I didn't notice it anymore. I noticed I was fairly loyal to the narrator throughout the story but I kept questioning whether I should be, whether she deserved that loyalty based on the reactions of those around her. Never learning anyone else's point of view of the book's events makes it feel mysterious in a way that I liked. I also liked that the narrator elicited conflicting emotions. Her complexity made the story more interesting and realistic.
