I hadn't read the 3rd volume in a while and forgot where I left off. The beginning of this volume was traumatic, but Guts gets revenge and is shown to still live with his trauma. It gives his character more nuance, though I wish it hadn't been that kind of betrayal.
It's interesting meeting Griffith, though we know he's going to be betrayed again in the future.

Really enjoyed learning about Guts' origin and development as a character from childhood in this entry and his meeting up with Griffith and the Hawks.


Pacing was good, though slower than the previous volume for obvious reasons, it's clearly intentional and gives more time to get to know Guts as a character, which I'm glad of
