Listened to on audiobook. A good book but very violent. I liked the crime/suspense but wasn’t anything crazy. Easy to follow.
I wanted to love this one so bad! But it just didn’t hit the mark for me. It wasn’t that it was bad it just seemed like it didn’t flow from the other book. I kept asking what about this that happened in The Firm that wasn’t resolved and I got no answer. Mitch didn’t feel the same. All in all an ok read but I think could’ve been way better In characterization. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this copy for read and review
Just OK.
Way more about the details of raising ransom money than a typical Grisham mystery/thriller/page turner.
Also, with a little thought, the plot didn't make sense, it was all a vehicle for Tom Cruise, I mean Mitch McDeere to become uppity and quit his law firm.

I have generally loved everything John Grisham has written. I read the Firm for the first time as a 14 year old kid and fell in love with the law and books about lawyers. I was so excited for this book but I found it so hard to read. I wasn’t invested from the beginning to the end.

This book was, quite simply, boring. I felt no emotional connection to any of the characters. I kept waiting for a twist that never came. As far as its status as a sequel to The Firm, if you cut out the first few chapters and changed the name of the main character, it would easily pass as a standalone novel. This is not the level of legal thrill that I typically enjoy in a Grisham book, and I was genuinely left wondering if the author took a mediocre book and added a few references to The Firm in order to boost sales…
I was so happy to be with Mitch and Abby again. I enjoy the few throwbacks from The Firm, but I wish there had been more. I enjoyed this book but not as much as I wished. The action was great, but the ending was a little too abrupt for me. I am so glad that he wrote this serious & I hope we see these characters again!
