The writing is better than that of The Firm and there is no glaring sexist language, but the premise is just not as intriguing as a mafia run law firm...

It had plenty of suspense to keep me turning the pages, but the ending fell flat. I kept hoping for a big twist or something unexpected, but it never came. It felt like it just… ended.

still love the Jake Briggance books more!! Good addition to follow up the Firm and does tie back to the Firm in several occasions of the plot.

It's very slow through most of the book. Had a only 1 courtroom scene and some drama and suspense. Pretty predictable I figured out how it would end early.

Others have summed it up perfectly. A huge disappointment.

Not his best..

Thank you @netgalley, @prhaudio, and @johngrisham for the free audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

@johngrisham is my original #autobuyauthor and I couldn’t wait to catch up with Jake and Abby McDeere. This book was awesome, it kept me on the edge of my seat.

I loved the international travel combined with a lot of back door negotiations building suspense until the very end. In this installment Mitch is caught in the middle of one very sinister situation with worldwide implications. This book is classic John Grisham and the reason he’s one of my favorites!

Kept trying to guess what the twist was going to be, but it never came.
