For as amazing as The Firm was, I expected more. I kept waiting for either a connection back to the Firm, a twist of some sort, to feel suspense. I finished the book … and it just wasn’t that great.

I thought it wasnt going to answer the questions of what happened to them between the end of The Firm & this book but it did eventually. Interesting but Mitch didn't seem to mature much as a man.
Maybe those who haven’t read The Firm would enjoy it more. 15 years later we are with Mitch and Abby again. This time there is no emotional connection to any of the characters. Disappointing.

This is the book I thought I wanted but quickly learned that I did not need. I didn't need a different Mitch that is now squeaky clean, inherently good, and a perfect husband. I didn't need a story that gives the impression of Mitch's past coming back to haunt him as he goes home, but that visit is covered in the first part of the book and is no relevance to the story. I didn't need a story that had no grittiness, suspense, or climax.

Grisham is always an easy read and he keeps just enough going on to keep the pages turning. But after I finished this book, I had to go find something to read because I was so indifferent to this story and these characters.
