Uh, what happened to the characters we liked from the world’s most beloved fiction law book? What happened to the legal and suspense genius I’m used to from Grisham? There was no law, just meetings and travel, and there was no suspense, even though there was kidnapping and ransom. How?! How did this fall so, so flat? 😭 I just took a star away as I was writing this because I expect so much more from John Grisham, but I really have only read his older works, so maybe the ideas have dried up over the years…

After 15 years Mitch and Abby McDeere are back and find themselves in another mess. I loved reconnecting with these characters and really enjoyed this book. It is not a true sequel and if you have never read The Firm you can still enjoy and follow the story (although I highly recommend The Firm!)

So disappointing. The Firm was so good and gripping. In this book (spoiler alert), they have a bunch of meetings and eat at a bunch of restaurants.
