80% of the book is this: Characters wake up early and have a cup of espresso or coffee. They travel somewhere by plane or car to attend a meeting. There's more coffee at the meeting, but unfortunately not a lot of new developments to the story. Characters then depart, having yet another coffee or drink. Repeat the next day. Repeat the next chapter. Repeat repeat repeat.

To make it worse it's clear this book is a cash grab. The more you read, the more you realize no one bothered to fact check The Exchange with The Firm. The errors might be small but stack up: the Quin kids were named Hunter and Holly not Wallace and Suzanne, Mitch says he graduated 4th place but it was actually 3rd, etc. The fallout from the suspenseful run from the Mafia and FBI is swept away with completely unbelievable statements. This is made worse by Grisham not capturing the spirit of Mitch and Abby. I'm just supposed to believe they got bored after hiding away for a month and decided to go to tourist heavy Italy? We're supposed to believe Mitch voluntarily walks into a law firm seeking employment?? Nothing matches up to the original story. Replace the characters in this book with new ones and it would be even more boring.

John Grisham's Foot Fetish Watch: You know it's bad when he is literally too busy writing about coffee every other page to talk about feet. Maybe a sign of someone else writing this flop story?

I had such high hopes for this book because I liked The Firm so much. I couldn't wait to read more about Mitch and Abby! The book was ok at first; until I got about halfway through. I lost interest fast and didn't care about any of the characters. I ended up skimming the end of the book. Very disappointing

I have to credit The Firm to getting me back into pleasure reading after college.

I don't read a lot of Grisham anymore, but this one didn't do it for me.  Maybe it's been too long for me to still care about the characters or my tastes changed or I was swayed to read a book that isn't meant for me or most likely the book didn't really feel like the characters I remember.

It's been 20 years, but the story seemed more about other characters with the original characters making a cameo.

It is fast paced, tense, and action packed.  There is an international setting.  It was a quick and easy read.

You can easily read this without having read the Firm and maybe those without expectations will love it more than I did.
