First off let me say that I enjoyed reading this book. Everyone was so nice to get to know. While Bea may have been the main focal point of this book, her friends were right up there with her. They are women that I would want to have around in my life. Plus, they provided some fun entertaining moments. The Love List is a charming, upbeat read with endearing characters!

Bea gets a second change at love. The tone of the story could have been a downer, but it was positive which is why I enjoyed reading it so much. Bea and Grant are great together. They shared sweet moments together. It felt real. Grant is the type of guy you would want to get to know. I do look forward to reading more books in this series.

The story
When Bea’s divorce is finalised after 14 months of negotiations, she has a short list of things she wants to do for herself - cut her hair short, take a break at a beach, visit 10 national parks and fly a kite. Her supper club best friends decide to help her with the “love list” and book her a trip to a South Carolina beach house. After a hectic travel day, she stops for a smoothie before checking into her accommodation and meets Grant. He has a rental agency in the town, and is soon smitten with Bea. Things move fast but neither can resist their strong feelings for each other.

My thoughts
I recently read an eARC of the second book in this series, and saw that the first book was available in my library through Libby. This story is an easy read, and with characters in their 40’s, grown up children, older parents and friends that support, this is a very relatable series of stories. If only true love was as easy to find as it is in the stories

Pure fluff summer beach romance book. It's the first of a series I don't plan on continuing with. But it was nice to see a romance with 40-something leads

Not for me.  I was excited to read a book with an older protagonist, but this read like the protagonist was old, not 45. Also, the entire friend group is very heteronormative.  The only unmarried one is unhappy and scared she's going to be alone her whole life instead of fulfilled by her career.

When I first started reading The Love List, I almost didn’t finish it. The story seemed to start out slow for me. However, I persisted and am so glad that I did. I just wish it was longer so we could meet Grants daughter Shelby. I love that Elena showed there can be love and life after divorce. As well as true friendships being important. Well done ma’am. Looking forward to the next one.
