The blood was a little too much in this book. Sure, the stews worked for me, but the cold of Dark-After wasn't quite emphasized enough for me to justify crawling into a dead dragon. Especially /that/ dead dragon.

I was really disappointed in Erikkin, but then Jakkin was being kind of mean to him, so I also felt sorry for him.

I didn't like how this second book got a bit too political. When I first read this series, I found it in the Teen book section at my library, and I do still consider it a teen series; especially the first book. This second book, as I said, gets more into the politics of Austar IV with rebels and Federations and blah, blah, yawn. My mind shuts off even at the first mention of politics, and it is because of the political unrest of this planet that big plot changes happen to our main characters. Anyway, because of that, it felt like the book might stray away from teen reading interests. I agree with Jakkin: All I want to read about and learn about are dragons!

Loved the first book, pretty disappointed by this one. The ending was just super weird. Can't spoil it, I suppose, but just no. Couldn't handle another book if it was going to follow that track.

I read this as a middle-schooler I think so it was weird connecting what I remembered from then (not much) to what I experienced this time around. I think it's probably perfect for the age it was written for, since I was an avid reader and loved them. But as an adult, momentous things seemed to happen too easily and too fast, so that the didn't have the weight attached to them that I felt like they *should*. The ending was very weird. And, intriguing. I actually do want to read the next book, because of the strange direction it was heading (again, I read it when I was younger but I remember *very little*).

I liked this book a lot. it was a good sequal to Dragon's Blood. it really set up the stage for the next book
