I don't normally like collections of short stories, but MEET CUTE proved to be an exception to the rule. Adorable and fun, I enjoyed almost every story in this bunch, and the ones that fell flat didn't do too much to distract from my overall happiness. I think my favorite was The Unlikely Likelihood Of Falling In Love by Jocelyn Davies - the girl calculating the probability of seeing somebody on the subway again was just perfect.
Super cute collection of diverse stories that made my hopeless romantic, daydreamer side really happy.

Really cute stories; loved hearing different narrators for each story with the audiobook too!
favorites
- siege etiquette: interesting premise and compelling writing style, unsympathetic character who i dislike as a person but grew to like as a character
- oomph: fun dialogue and generally enjoyable
- the unlikely likelihood of falling in love: math but make it cute
- the department of dead love: creative and felt complete in a way that some of the other stories didn't

I LIKE LOVE, OKAY.
from an artistic standpoint, that is. i like romantic comedies. i like romantic subplots in my favorite TV shows. all the best songs are about love. i read an endless string of disappointing contemporaries because every once in a while, i find one that makes me feel something.
i'm cynical and pessimistic and sometimes mean. i can be bitter and hardhearted. but i like love-related art.
so i was excited for this book, and, to some degree, i got what i expected. maybe not what i hoped for, but what i expected.
some of these stories are good. a lot of them aren't. a few were really enthralling. there was a level of diversity that was really pleasantly surprising.
short stories really feel like taking a bite of a cookie and putting it down, and as such there's really a limit to how much i can enjoy them. but still - this wasn't an awful reading experience.
bottom line: not worse than i'd thought it would be - but certainly no better.

All of these stories were PRESH! Anthologies are sometimes not my thing but THESE ALL WERE. MEET CUTES ARE THE BEST.
My faves were Something Real, The Unlikelihood of Falling in Love, The dictionary of You and Me, The Intern, and Click. But I actually really liked all of them? The lowest rating I gave an individual story was 3.5/5 sooooooo ya know.

Mixed bag: Most cute, a couple awful, and a couple with major swoon.
Meet Cute, was a fun little book I would recommend reading at the beach or while sunbathing (just like I did!)
Siege Etiquette by Katie Cotugno: 2/5
A very typical meet cute to start the book off. No risks were taken with this, and I found it to be quite forgettable. The main character was quite annoying and cruel, it was hard to get into the story when I didn't really like any of the characters.
Print Shop by Nina Lacour: 3/5
I thought this story was so adorable, and I loved hearing about the print shop, I will say though that it took a while to get to the 'couple' actually meeting, the story was more about this girls new job than it was a 'meet cute'.
Hourglass by Ibi Zoboi: 2/5
This was one of my least favourites, which is a shame because I really did like the main character. There wasn't a 'meet cute' at all just two people meeting in a normal way on the last page, like Print Shop, Hourglass was more about this girls' life, and it was kind of boring.
Click by Katherine McGee: 3/5
McGee created an adorable adventure in only a few pages. It was sweet, I just felt it was a little flat, I can't put my finger on why, so the 3 stars is really just a matter of personal opinion.
The Intern by Sara Shepard: 2/5
This one wasn't necessarily bad but I literally just had to read the first page again because I wrote down the title and I couldn't remember this one AT ALL. Sweet but unforgettable.
Somewhere That's Green by Meredith Russo
I haven't rated this one because, once again, I cannot remember this one at all and I'm not looking for my kindle right now. I really really can't remember this.
The Way we Love Here by Dhonielle Clayton
I can't remember this one at all either. Did I even read this book????
Oomph by Emery Lord: 4/5
At this point I'm giving this a high rating JUST because it wasn't completely forgettable. However, I did actually really like this one, this was probably the first ACTUAL meet cute in the whole book, it was adorable, sweet, I loved both main characters, and now I'm wishing I can meet a cute girl in an airport.
The Dictionary of You and Me by Jennifer L Armentrout: 4/5
Loved this! It was quirky and fun, I was rooting for this couple from page one!
The Unlikely Likelihood of Falling in Love by Jocelyn Davies: 4/5
Adored this one immediately, the whole idea was a tad obsessive, bordering on creepy, but true to the title it was definitely a meet cute, one which I enjoyed immensely!
259 Million Miles by Kass Morgan: 3/5
Again, this was one that I really enjoyed, the idea was new and fresh, but it wasn't too big that it felt like too much. The only reason I didn't give this one more than 3 stars was because although it was a meet-cute, the couple have no chance which made the ending kind of depressing.
Something Real by Julie Murphy: 5/5
This was my absolute favourite story! Having these two girls fall in love in a non-conventional way was so endearing, I think I actually re read this story because it was so lovely.
Say Everything by Huntley Fitzpatrick: 2/5
After reading several stories which I generally enjoyed, this one was kind of a let down, it was sweet, but I just felt like it was kind of bland.
The Department of Dead Love by Nicola Yoon: 3/5
I felt like this one was just too ambitious, there was a whole dystopian sort of system which I was meant to get used to, there was a history which the main character had, and the whole meet cute was more of an obsessed boy on a rebound. I felt really odd about this story, the protagonist had been dumped 6 months ago and was still absolutely obsessed with this girl, and instead of just asking her why she dumped him, he had to begin a full investigation. I just felt like this was one massive red flag, which made the end of the book a huge disappointment.
Meet Cute had a mixture of good and not-so-good stories, I would only recommend this book if you really loved the authors, or if it was 99p on the kindle store.

This collection of stories from YA authors is centred on relationship beginnings. Around that foci the stores vary greatly in their approaches however and there are many different 'initial spark' moments covered. Sweet, without being cloying, and dryly amusing often, this is a great anthology to dip in and out of, bringing a smile with each story.
Overall I enjoyed these short stories even if only 2 or 3 of them stand out. I've read better anthologies though.
Siege Etiquette - Katie Cotugno [1/5 Stars] No! Just no! First of all, why would you write this in second person point of view? Why? There's never really a moment why this point of view is justifiable. It's so unnecessarily confusing. Also, the main character seems like superficial bitch that's not going to learn anything and continue being an asshole. The only thing I liked is the title.
Print Shop - Nina Lacour [4/5 Stars] This one was really really cute! The only downside was the semi insta love going on, but I kinda get it because it's a short story. It's not like they can do a slow burn romance or something. But still a little too insta like. Also, yay queer representation! Happy to read diverse characters.
Hourglass - Ibi Zoboi [1/5 Stars] I didn't like this one either. The whole situation was kinda sad and the friendship was disappointing. I didn't like the main character that much either, but I can kinda see where she's coming from.
Click - Katharine McGee [5/5 Stars] This is my favorite story so far. A meet cute done right!! I loved the situation and the characters. I would definitely read more of this if it's possible. I would total join click as well. ;)
The Intern - Sara Shepard [2/5 Stars] I little too cheesy and cliched for my liking. I didn't give me any fuzzy feelings and was a little unoriginal.
Somewhere That's Green - Meredith Russo [3/5] I think it's great that transgender characters are getting representation and the story was about real issues currently happening with them. However, as a love story I wasn't really sure. It felt more like they were a crutch for each other than actually knowing and liking each other. I think maybe it's because it's a short story. I would probably feel different if it had time to develop more.
The Way We Love Here - Dhonielle Clayton [3/5 Stars] I like the concept, but the direction it went is a little scary and bittersweet so I'm kinda on the fence about liking it or not liking it.
Oomph - Emery Lord [5/5 Stars] I LOVED LOVED THIS!!! First of all, more diversity again. Yay! Second, it was just so cute and perfect and I wish something like that could happen to me. Definitely the epitome of a Meet Cute.
Dictionary of You and Me - JLA [5/5 Stars] Oh my! I loved this one as well! So cute! I wished I worked in the library and something wonderful like that happened. I'm not even mad that he didn't say anything, because you can tell he was pretty shy.
Unlikely Likelihood of Falling in Love [4/5 Stars] Ok so other than the instalove aspect I loved this. I thought it was so interesting and like let's be real we've seen at least one cutie on public transport more than once. So, I think it wouldn't have been much better if they didn't emphasis love at first sight, but more like cute guy I want to see again.
259 Million Miles - Kass Morgan [3/5] Of course Kass Morgan would write something relating to space. I think it was cute, but quite sad for a Meet Cute and the ending was too abrupt.
Something Real [4/5] I didn't like how this story started at all, but I loved the direction that it went. It was so cute and I'm glad that the characters are strong independent women, who are smart enough to know what's real.
Say Everything [3/5 Stars] This one was slightly off for me. I think there were elements I really like and then other things that just didn't sit right with me. I think it would have been cuter without the family conflict background.
The Department of Dead Love [3/5 Stars] Very interesting concept and it was cute, but I don't know maybe the characters don't have much chemistry? It didn't make me feel fuzzy, happy, or excited for the characters to get together.
