This my second time around for reading this story, but the first time was so long ago that it felt like I was coming into it fresh. This did tie in to the larger Montgomery/Taggert Family Saga series, but it did so in such a way that the reader didn't feel lost. It was a good little Christmas story, but there was a lot of gratuitous sex in it, that really wasn't necessary. It really was a bit of fluff that you didn't really have to think about, but ultimately wasn't memorable.

I need to talk to a lot of people about this book. SO MUCH HAPPENED and 50% of it was problematic!!!

Having never read a book by this author I wasn't sure what to expect. This book has mixed reviews, so I went into it with an open mind and found myself disappointed. The story line wasn't all that interesting, it dragged in places and the ending was abrupt. You never really get to "know" the characters or what the fixed plot line was. In other words, "meh" sums it up.

Very good book. I loved the plot. The rich girl falls in love with the ‘gardener’ while trying to arrange a marriage with a man she loved 15 years prior. With such a dedication to her family, Holly couldn’t let herself fall for the gardener due to his social class. Aside from that it’s a book with family malice, murder, and old house history, which I’ve never seen in a book! Great story and I loved the ending. I rated it 4 stars bc it was a little more ‘romantic’ than I would’ve liked.

I don't usually read romances so I didn't expect much when I grabbed this as a quick read to bolster the number of books I read this year. It did what I wanted - provided a fast finish without much thought and a few smiles along the way.

Picked this book up at a used book book store last week because it was under the Holiday section. The writing was pretty bad and it’s not even a holiday book.

I absolutely love this book though it is really hard to pinpoint why!!

The plot is okay but by no means is it the most intriguing or complex that I have ever encountered. I think the relationship between the two lead characters is what attracts me to this book. The damsel in distress meeting, turning into a lusty fling which is just explosive, funny and charming, and Nick's longlasting hope that Holly will choose him over her childhood crush are just completely satisfying! I've read this book so many times over the years and I still find myself smiling as I read my favourite parts! Love it!

I may have rated this higher if I wasn't under the impression this would be a Christmas story. The last few pages happen to take place on Christmas eve/Christmas but have nothing to do with the holiday.
