Another great novel by Emily Henry! As someone who loves her girlies, I appreciated the novel being centered around a core group of college friends (Harriet, Cleo, and Sabrina then their plus ones) and their “happy place.” Such a beautiful reminder to be honest with those we love and who love us.

Reading Happy Place was a little like willingly downing a full bottle of your least favourite alcohol (the kind you had a Bad Experience with at uni) in one go, because you've been told there's a prize at the bottom, and all the while you chug, a friend is cracking jokes and making witticisms in the periphery, trying to make you feel better as the liquid agony slides down your throat.
But you know... it's liquid agony. There's no feeling better.
And then, you finally reach the bottom, and the long-awaited prize is just the small sliver of a sentence: "And they lived happily ever after".
Which is the bare minimum of what you expected, but perhaps does not make up for the whole handle of strife you've just swallowed and the wicked hangover/toilet-bowl-hugging that is sure to ensue.
If only it wasn't so keenly obvious how much the author delights in making her audience suffer senselessly (through several iterations of the same dead horse argument), I might've liked it more.
But alas, Happy Place is my Sad Place. These stars are for Henry's superb writing style and her superb writing style only.

Is it possible to like a romance but not ship the couple?? If so then this is how i feel about this book.

A lighthearted read that actually made me reflect on purpose, the changing nature of relationships and happiness. Romance and friendship were well written too.
Some lines I really liked:
"My best friends taught me a new kind of quiet, the peaceful stillness of knowing one another so well you don't need to fill the space. And a new kind of loud: noise as a celebration, as the overflow of joy at being alive, here, now."
"This is how I used to think of love. As something so delicate it couldn't be caught without being snuffed out. Now I know better. I know the flame may gutter and flare with the wind, but it will always be there."
