Fae goes it again. I laughed so much with this one. The side characters were fucking hilarious. The smut was also top tier. My favourite part was the epilogue, I reread it three times. I didn’t know what to expect from this story and it delivered in every single way.

Would have been perfect if it were a touch shorter, otherwise amazing!

I considered June trans the entire book, but I couldn’t really tell which is either a sign of a fantastic or not so fantastic author

I loved this book from start to finish! Fae writes such adorable but also heartfelt romances and this one was no different.
It follows George as he flies home to attend his ex's wedding. It would be a peaceful time away from the mess that is his life but then he meets Alex. Alex is being set up with George by his sister as she thinks he needs someone. Alex doesn't want to be set up but the more time him and George spend together the more he is starting to doubt that statement. Alex pushes every button George has and he likes it. He starts to realise that the wall he built are coming down the more time Georgie is around.
I loved Alex and George so damn much. They are both so cute and I wanted to give them a hug! Seeing them change around each other was so cute to see. Alex really teased George so much in the beginning that he really thought Alex didn't like him. George luckily quickly figured out that is just who Alex is. They have both been told that they are too much and need too much by exes and so they try to hide parts of themselves. But they both realise the other one doesn't mind being too much so they let their walls down. Seeing them fall in love with each other but also keep denying there is anything there was a bit funny to see and I loved the scene were they finally figured out they want to be together! Fae really got me rooting for them so much!
If you are in the mood for a cute, small town, hurt/comfort, steamy queer romance this one is for you!
Thanks Fae Quin for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Alex and Georgie both had a lot going on. They were  both nursing old wounds and afraid to love again—until they slowly, hilariously, and beautifully let their walls come down. I smiled through so much of this book; the banter, the chaos, the family shenanigans—it was pure joy.

Dildos meet cute, need I say more? From apology pickles and snake wrangling to friendship bracelets and stolen picnics, every moment was either laugh-out-loud funny or quietly heartfelt. Alex is a golden retriever in human form; Georgie, a cautious stray cat—and watching them figure each other out was magic.

The emotional vulnerability hit just as hard as the spice (and oh, the spice). It’s a slow burn that builds and scorches. That shower scene? Still playing on loop in my head.

At over 600 pages, it somehow still wasn’t enough. I could read about Alex and Georgie forever. If this book is a bad decision, I never want to make a good one again.

ARC Review

The tropes for this book were full of some of my absolute favs and I was so excited to get an ARC.

First off, I loved that even though the set up is at an exes wedding that there was no drama there. And the matchmaking involving multiple families could’ve been cringe but it wasn’t over the top, which I really appreciated.

These two get off on the wrong foot from the start and George especially is extra prickly but he is already stressed because he hasn’t seen his family, who he loves, in years and being seen as put together and successful is important to him.
Alex has been planning his sisters wedding while dealing with a previous health scare with their dad aaaaand his sister trying to set him up so he has a date for her wedding.

These two men feel like they are both too much and not enough. And have both sort of given up on finding someone. It was interesting to see, though the circumstances are different, how they are also very similar.

Alex has been doing the casual hookup thing, he’s been told he’s too much and has built up walls and masks to protect himself. He’s very charismatic, and he IS charming but this is also a big part of how he protects himself. He is good with talking to basically anyone and isn’t used to people not liking him so the not so great impression he makes with George throws him. And he’s kinda surprised he actually cares. He does enjoy pushing George’s buttons but also likes that George will push back.

George has an ex (not the same ex the wedding is for) who he has to interact with often because they work together. This guy, everyone hates him, he is the worst. George was molded to be small and made to feel like his basic needs in a relationship were too needy and insignificant. And this guy is the reason he hadn’t seen his family in years. George swore off men and all he wants is for his family to be proud of him. Then he meets Alex, who gets on his last nerve but…is also very family oriented and charming gdi.

Basically, this book is the epitome of sugar and spice. With their agreement to “date” for this wedding week, Alex gets to be the romantic he actually is. He gets to be sweet and cuddly and a caretaker. George gets to let go of his need for control and be given the affection and care he has been starved of for years.
And holy hell is their chemistry off the charts! Their wants and needs work so well together…but they also discover some new things together 👀

I freaking loved this book! I got into it so fast. I know it's a long book, but I never wanted it to end! The banter, the spice, the swoon!

Both characters have some baggage from past relationships that have really impeded their ability to trust. But thanks to the cutest forced proximity from both their families meddling, they are able to connect. Alex just wants to smother someone with all the love that he has, and George was so deprived of proper affection in his last relationship. I absolutely adore a character who thinks they're "too much" and then finds the one who appreciates their much-ness.

This book was so fun and silly and sexy (never gonna look at a boathouse the same way again!). Fae Quin always delivers a good time!
