I finished this book a few hours ago and I couldn't get my shit together enough to form coherent sentences. I cried non-stop at the end of the book then proceeded to retell the story to my husband and cry all over again. I think I have it together now...maybe.. I can't promise that I won't be reduced to tears thinking about this amazing book enough to write a review. So I will keep it short and sweet.

Thrown Off the Ice was EVERYTHING. it was recommended to me by a trusted book friend and I hate her and love her for it. It took me a chapter or two to get use to the writing style, since it's a little different from the norm, but once I was in there was no stopping. This book ripped my heart out and threw it across the room. I will probably compare all future couples to Mike and Liam . Mike is gruff and grumpy, Liam is a sweetheart , and together they are hot as hell. You go through all the emotions with this book, frustration every time Mike pushes away , laughter when Liam acts like a ridiculous puppy, and love and anguish as their relationship grows into something beautiful.

Thrown Off the Ice is definitely one of my top reads of the year. An age gap, MM , hockey romance that is guaranteed to break your heart. This book is worth every penny and I wish like hell it was available in physical form, so I could add it to my shelves.

"Wait , are you still up because you were worried about me?"Liam asks.
"Going to bed," Mike says
"That's so sweet," Liam says, following him up the stairs like an annoyingly gleeful shadow. "You're so sweet."
"You want to sleep in the bed too, you might want to stop there," Mike says.
"You are probably the only person alive who would make someone sleep on the couch for calling them sweet."

I guess the cover image should have warned me, but I went into this blind and was expecting something quite different. Loved the writing though, so moving on to Fitzpatrick's other titles, but I'm damn well going to read reviews first, so I know what I'm getting into.

I knew it, I fucking knew it.

I can't even.

I'm broken, I'm distraught, I have *never* in my life cried as hard as I have at this book.

If you are on the fence about reading this, and you are in the mood to have your heart crushed, make this the next book you read.

All the stars!!

This one will be sticking with me for a while. I read A LOT of books each year, so I pretty much finish one and start another without pause. Mike and Liam’s story wrecked me and I cannot get this beautiful book out of my head. I saw all of the reviews and I was fairly certain that I did not want to read anything that wasn’t 100% fun; I’m so glad I listened to every review that said the pain is worth it in the end. There were a few typos, and while that usually is too distracting while I’m reading, they were overshadowed by the story, so I easily dismissed them.

If like me, you saw this little gem of a book on every book bloggers “best of 2020” last month but you were scared away due to the promise of tears (so many tears), do yourself a favor and read it anyway. I’m ever so thankful to everyone who gave the same advice.

WOW I CAN'T EVEN SEE WHAT I'M TYPING AS TEARS ARE BLURRING MY EYES. I can't even put into words how much I love Mike and Liam! They will truly stay with me forever! Their story is filled with so much humour but is at the same time heartbreakingly tragic. I didn't think it was possible to feel so connected with two characters - crying with laughter at their banter whilst simultaneously crying with heartbreak as I experienced their helpless pain through such tragedy. I couldn't actually finish the last chapter because I felt so utterly broken and was hyperventilating with tears that my heart actually couldn't take it, but MY GOD... After reading the brief blurb I expected a light sports romance but what I got were unforgettable characters and a story that I will never ever ever forget. I am prepared for a hefty book hangover after this...

oh my god... What can I say about this book except that it left me speechless, tearful and in need of a break before jumping into the next book. I love Mike and Fitzgerald's story.
I doesn't strike you as a love story at first, but wow your heart is going to beat for these two.

I expected a more regular Hockey romance, I have to admit. Though, what a surprise! The story, the writing style, the characters which are so authentic and true to themselves. It felt real and realistic comparing to other love story.

I would definitely read it again (that's one hell of a compliment coming from me and re-reading).

I was looking for cute light hearted book, and this was not that.

Honestly, I wanted to give this book 4 stars, simply because it hurt me so much to read. It starts off like an adorable little hockey m/m and then it just switches. In a very haunting way. I haven't stopped thinking about it all day.

Liam. Wow, he really said that's my person and stuck by him forever.
