This book will tear you up and leave you staring at the wreckage asking for more. It haunts me. I can’t stop thinking about it or the characters. It was far too short a journey that covers 17 yrs in the life of Mike & Liam’s relationship. And it’s not enough. Not nearly enough.
This book has the same dynamic between the two main characters as Alexis Hall’s Glitterland: the depressive, self-loathing, damaged misanthrope and the irrepressible champagne bubble of a human who never takes no for an answer. And It. Is. Adorable.
[The author’s use of the F word 687 times is truly impressive. That’s dedication to verisimilitude.

I went into this expecting a light fluffy read, and it even seemed that way for the first 30% of the book, but by the time it hit 40% I thought, oh fuck, where is this book going? And then it all goes emotionally downhill from there and by the end of the book your heart will be ripped wide open.

no amount of words can do this book justice. it really deserves 6 stars out of 5. such a beautiful gem of a book and I have no idea why it doesn't have a cult following. cos this book deserves a fucking cult of its own. I'm speechless, and rambling.
I haven't cried after reading a book in a long time
This was one of the best written books I've read this year. Liam is just endearing and annoying at the same time. I smiled, laughed and cried. Heartbreakingly beautiful story. But not written in a sad way. Loved it.

I felt bereft but this is a story that will stay with me. I think the ending was earned but I hope this isn't the start of a trend
3.5. ah, what the fuck. i have a lot of feelings. was it worth it mike? was it worth it begrudgingly loving someone? never letting them know they're truly wanted and loved? pushing them away for years till you DIED?????
i cannot tell you one thing about mike other than the fact that he fucking annoyed the shit out of me. it's from mike's pov but i literally do not know a single thing about him. was it worth it??????

For the first half of this book, I thought it wasn’t for me. For a reason, I can’t quite pin point, I found the narrative style clunky? Rigid? Impersonal? Whatever it was, I kept being thrown out of the book, have to work myself back into the story, only for something else to remind me this was fiction and thrown me back out. I also didn’t find the plot very engaging, and all a bit too ‘physical focused’ for me.
And then it really turned. The second half had me absolutely gripped. What Mike battles is very frightening, sad and real. It was also in the second half that I was realised why it might not always be clear why Liam and Mike were together. It was Mike’s love story to Liam - so the narrative was naturally one-sided. We saw what drew Mike to Liam, but it would have been out of Mike’s character for him to narrate honestly to us what drew Liam to him.
After finishing this late last night, I have spent most of today, getting drawn into thoughts about Mike and Liam. Their relationship while not perfect, was of two people who loved each other,.
