Will write a full review when I’m no longer sobbing.

So I knew going into this book that it wasn’t HEA and that it was sad but I’d managed to avoid any real spoilers.

I binge read the whole thing in one evening. This book is 5 stars for me in spite of the fact I don’t love third person present and in spite of quite a few typos which I’m less forgiving of in books I have to pay for and aren’t KU

Wow. I was not expecting this when I picked up this book. Honestly, I figured it was just another hockey romance.

This book was beautifully written. The story was meaningful, uniquely paced, just different. I was blown away with the emotion that was put into the story, even though Mike was clearly emotionally challenged as the narrator.

Just wow. Off to buy more books by the author!

emotional funny sad

Broke my heart. I got overly confident with my ability to read sad stories. It’s been a few hours since I finished this and I just know it’s going to be a story that sticks with me for a long time.

I started reading this around noon today. I thought I didn’t like it, kept telling myself I’d put it down, and then… I just couldn’t. It pulled me in deep and I read it start to finish. I fell so in love with Liam and Mike, and I felt my heart breaking alongside theirs throughout the story.

I can only think of one other book that caused me to actually cry over the pages - it’s just not easy for me to get to that point, but while it’s certainly checks the box for sad it also made me laugh more often than not. It’s beautiful and messy and heartbreaking and hilarious. I loved it.

Ugh this was so good. However, I absolutely should not have finished it in public.

DID NOT FINISH

Not the current vibe—too much angst, not enough romance, just all self-hating sex right from the beginning.

Somehow all traces of me reading this book keeps disappearing for some reason. This book broke me, major ugly crying in this book. Loved it and will never read it again.
