Gotham easily has the most vigilantes, rogues and metahumans per capita of any comic book city but Gail Simone is more than capable of making room for a few new names and dealing with an old favorite. She has made Batgirl into a force equal to Nightwing and even though we don't get to see the Batfolks usual villains, there are some fine new additions to Gotham's underbelly and the Owls. And, then there's Jim Jr.

This didn't hit me emotionally in the same way the first volume did. Simone's writing is still top-notch, though, and character of Batgirl continues to be a blast.

Quick, easy read. I continue to adore Babs (surprise!) and while this was good, it definitely felt like it was building towards something bigger.

It says something that I think the villains are the *least* interesting things about the book. I like Barbara's inner monologue and the scenes with her roommate or Black Canary (or anyone that's not fighting her) have a spark and personality that are absent from all the fight scenes. It doesn't help that so much of this book feels disjointed. Grotesque is a weird kind of one-and-done villain arc, the Night of Owls didn't make any kind of sense (because apparently it's a crossover from the regular Batman books, but why include it here at all if the whole thing is going to be summarily ignored by the rest of the book?), and Knightfall's motivations and backstory didn't make much sense, either. I'll still give the next one a shot, though.

I liked the story in this book better and in some of the issues the art is really well done. Some parts of the book were confusing though and an issue or two had some really weak art.

I have mixed feelings about this book, even though the first half felt disorganized the second half is a great buildup to whatever Gail Simone have in store for the next volume. For me it is kinda weird for having Batgirl/Barbara Gordon's background story restart for the New 52 by DC. As if Oracle did not exist and so does Birds of Prey. This and Vol 1 are stories that happened 3 years after the Killing Joke by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland event(guess DC still in love with Alan Moore).

I do understand that the New 52 is trying to pull in new readers who are not familiar with the Batman mythos. And one reason I don't collect single issues anymore because every year or so they re start franchises like they change underwear. I'd prefer reading the trade collection just in case the series ends (I, Vampire) or restarting all over again (Action Comics, Justice League). Sucks to read comicbooks sometimes.

Anyways I am torn between artists Ardian Syaf and Ed Benes to go along Gail Simone's storytelling. Maybe have Ardian do the covers and Ed do the interiors. I hope Gail and the artists should do the series for the next 5 years.

A great continuation of this iteration of Batgirl. The plot thickens, action rises, and the questions multiply... how will it end? Definitely appropriate for our high school collection.

Maybe 3.5? This volume had two separate story arcs and I'm not sure how they're connected. Maybe I missed something and I'll pick up on it when I read it again. Also the first arc wasn't resolved except for one scene at the very end which I guess was supposed to make up for it. I don't know. It was enjoyable, but not the best volume I've ever read. I did like the Batwoman cameo, though, and also the cameo of one of the characters from Gail Simone's The Movement (even though it was kind of sad to see how she ended up).
