This book is great. A strong all around good read. I would’ve however liked to see more exploration of Henry’s character and thief relationship. I thought that luc and addie were all around more interesting and in the end it was never really about Henry but about addie. I loved the game between luc and addie and the developement of the tension and thier relationship

Well, this was great.
This book pulled me in and took over my life for a day.
I feel a bit lost.
It's extremely rare that I finish a book and think "No, I'd better not pick up another book now - this one deserves some space to properly digest," and it's so nice to find that this can still happen after having read so many, many books in this genre.
I'm going to go away and be very contemplative and feel bereft now.

easily one of the best books i have ever read

The framing, seeing the story play out from two different timelines, worked well for the story. At times, it was like a bucket of cold water on the excitement going on in 2014, but I didn’t mind that too much.

It’s pretty introspective and good concept. It was fun learning the rules along with Addie, as well as the ways she could bend them.

The ending was good, though the fourth wall break isn’t my favorite thing. It entirely makes sense given the story, but the book being the same and not the same was a little weird for me. The very end was a pretty triumphant, exciting girlboss moment

The idea of a girl making a deal with a god and having to live out her life dealing with the consequences sounded interesting, but the execution wasn’t great. I found certain scenes to be too repetitive throughout the plot. Addie’s relationship with Luke was frustrating, it felt like she never learned from their interactions which made reading later scenes with them even more difficult to get through. It was too long. I liked the first 70% of the book but then it just kept repeating itself and I was over it by the end.
