The continuing saga of the children of Disney characters, centering on the four ‘villain’ kids: Mal (daughter of Maleficent), Evie (daughter of Snow White’s Evil Queen), Carlos (son of Cruella De Vil), and Jay (son of Jafar from Aladdin).  This was read aloud to my 7ish yo daughter, mostly when she was in the tub.  Strangely--the storyline goes Novel#1, Movie#1, Novel#2...so far, with no crossover.

This book WAS AMAZING. I loved it to bits and there was never a dull moment. It was definitely better than 'The Isle of The Lost' the first book. It ends with a cliffhanger that will absolutely keep you on your toes for the rest of the story! Plus the cover art is awesome. I highly recommenced this book.

Really liked this book. Really liked the idea of the 4 villain kids having to find the talismans and kind of having to fight their own demons. However, I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't meet their parents while they were on their adventure on the Isle of the Lost.

the anti-heroes club is such a great concept tbh

This book picked up where the movie left off. There was a little summary of the movie at the beginning of the book, but I did not like that. It seemed like if you didn't watch the movie you missed important character development, plus you missed the big capture of Maleficent and good triumphing over evil. Aside from that, this book was on par with the first. It was a fun, fast read. I could have used more Ben and Mal; 16 is too young to have all of the duties of King. We got a better understanding of how large the kingdom is, which was nice. We saw that some of the villains, or their descendants, are tired of being evil and they were inspired by the original 4 to become better. That was a nice surprise. I am looking forward to more of this story, but I am confused about where the upcoming movie fits in with the books...

I was going to give this book a 4, but I had to remove a point for having the part between this book and the last be a movie. Really, this was the third part of the series, not the second. And I was mildly confused figuring out what had happened.

That aside. This is a rather entertaining book. The references to Disney movies are great, and it's hilarious to see the interplay.

Overall, I'd say this book was way too short. It just seemed to finish rather abruptly. But it was entertaining nonetheless.

3.5

I rewatched the first movie recently and it reminded me how much I love these characters and this world.

3.5 stars.

I enjoyed the first installment for what it was. I understand that these are geared toward kids (though I’m starting to lose focus on what age group is being targeted), but this book’s plot felt rushed and underwhelming. The end was a bit ridiculous, even. I’m disappointed but I do love these characters and the premise, so it’s still sitting at 3.5.
