I listened to the audiobook for this one and it was a fun ride. I have only seen Silence of the Lambs the movie and a little bit of the Hannibal show but the amount of character depth that is in the books makes me want to delve deeper into this world. I think that the shift halfway through the book to almost exclusively feature the killer's perspective was unexpected but interesting and sad. Right around the time they focused more on telling his story was when I was fully invested in Will Graham and wanted to hear more about him. One line that really struck me in the book was that "fear is the price for imagination." Hannibal Lecter is an interesting and scary character and I feel like this introduction was the appetizer to what is to come later in the series. The ending was a little bit unsatisfying for me but I still had fun listening to this book and will probably continue the series.

I read all the Hannibal Lecter books in high school and they always stuck with me as some of the best books I’ve read. This re-read solidified that. These books are the perfect blend of mystery, horror and thriller that keep you on the edge of your seat and questioning your own sanity. I will definitely be revisiting all the books now!

Zwroty akcji były super ciekawe i czasami też frustrujące (w dobrym znaczeniu). Fajnie mi się czytało i zdecydowanie polecam innym entuzjastom Hannibala.

This book was incredible, a definite 5/5. I found this book through a friend, who read it after we had watched “The Silence of the Lambs” movie.

Harris does a MASTERFUL job portraying many types of characters, from Will Grahams empathy and inner struggle, to Jack Crawford’s moral struggle between bringing Graham back in the field or letting him live in peace, to Dolarhyde’s efforts to manage his own violent urges and avoid harming a person he cares about.

I found I could relate very heavily to Graham, as we both are very empathetic individuals who can easily assume the mindset of another person, and who mimic others way of speaking as a method of connection.

Definitely recommend
