Fascinating look at the life and philosophy of a computer games legend. Would love to hear more about the technical side of the games he created someday.
I have spent hundreds of hours paying Sid Meier's games through the years.
This was an enjoyable sojourn through the history of his career. For fans of his games, I absolutely recommend the book. For people who aren't fans, this may be difficult to pick up and understand the context.

A must read not only for Civilization nerds, but anyone interested in game design and game history.
Reading prompt for video games. I very much enjoyed Sid’s story … and I love civilisation.
The accessible game design/memoir hybrid that most people are looking for. A fascinating book by one of the most heralded designers of all time tracing the trajectory of the gaming industry. Great technical insights and memorable anecdotes.

I honestly loved this book. I thought it was a really great balance of explaining what the industry was like at that time, but also giving a good amount of personal anecdotes and experiences explaining why Sid Meier was like he was at the time.
It was a fascinating and fairly unique perspective of how the gaming industry was changing during its formative years. I would recommend that anyone who has an interest in gaming or game development read this book. It was right up my alley
