Still love the characters but it was a bit of a let down after the tour de force that was the first book. Too many perspectives were followed to make the narrative click. It was a looooong book and nothing really happened to be honest.

Great sequel.

Overall I thought the book was good. It was a nice sequel to Inkheart and still kept in line with the characters. however, I thought the plot sometimes dragged a bit as it seemed a bit similar to the first novel. I really liked they development of each character and seeing how they dealt with certain situations they were put in. I loved seeing Dustfinger's development throughout the novel and see how much he's changed since the beginning of Inkheart.

I do have a few complaints though...

- I wish Eleanor had a bigger part in the book. I think she adds such a great comic relief at just the right moments. She also makes the reader step back for a second and realize just how strange the scenario is of the two worlds colliding (Fantasy and reality) as it is easy to forget with the great writing. I really hope to see more of her in the third book.

- Also, I thought the romantic story line with Farid and Meggie is a bit... strange. Its understanding why it's there but i feel as though Meggie is just a few years too young for it to be totally believable. It seems that Farid is infatuated with her but Meggie almost doesn't seem to know what to do about it and is just kind of thrown into this relationship if you can call it that. I would have liked to see her be at least 15 or 16 for it to seem genuine.
