This was a very fun read. The characters' struggles with homophobia, racism, ableism and sexism seem realistic, as does their resolution. I feel like the historical aspect was well researched. I could do without ever reading another reference to 'kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending pottery with gold', though.

I went into this completely blind because I'd forgotten the blurb by the time I got around to reading it. Thought it would be something like The Intoxicating Mr Lavelle by Neil Blackmore with the "on tour" theme and it was but just much better. I wasn't expecting the mystery element so it was happy happenstance.

Overall this is not deep reading by any means and there is some questionable language that wasn't really necessary, but it was a fast-paced, fun, entertaining spot of historical fiction. Such an adventure following Monty's trio around Europe as they constantly get in and out of trouble. Looking forward to continuing with the series.

god i don't even know where to start. this is my second time reading this book & i am so glad i decided to reread. mainly bc i forgot half of the plot. oops. but besides the point, this books gets a solid 5/5 stars.

this book is an 18th century spicy & chaotic romance, drama, & adventure novel that kept taking unexpected turns every page. i can't say i ever got bored while reading. each chapter was just *chefs kiss*, written to perfection. i am absolutely so in love with every character, despite how messy & imperfect they are. honestly, the messiness of the characters is what makes them so lovable.

it’s a painfully slow burn story between two forbidden lovers — not forbidden bc of their family, but bc of the thing that dangles between both of their legs & the fact that ones pigmentation is darker than the others.

i highly suggest this book to everyone & hope they enjoy it @ much as i do. :)
