World building? Never heard of her. There is zero Greek myth in this book aside from the weird political system where people are called by the names of Greek gods but those names are actually political positions. I’m not even sure how any of it works because none of it was explained (and I’m stopping at the halfway point, mind you). Should have DNFd at the Neosporin name drop, and I pushed through thinking it would get better. It didn’t.

There’s no tension, no pining, and it reads like Fifty Shades of Grey in the worst way possible.

Wow, people have strong feelings about this. Maybe it’s just because I don’t really read erotica and I accept that you can’t please everyone, but personally, I thought it was fun, just don’t think too hard. (No, the “modernized” universe logic doesn’t really make sense and I don’t really love the re-imagined myth, but just suspend your disbelief and come along for the ride).

I am honestly not sure what I was expecting when I started this, but I am glad I read it. The world-building is something I have not seen before and the plot twists and character development was great!

I liked this book but I didn't love it as much as the hype had me believing that I would. I can say that I was not expecting the 'deal' between Persephone and Hades to be what it was but I in no way hated it. This was a quick and fun read and I don't regret giving in to the hype for this one.
