Hot stuff, but the mythology is quite disappointing. There is nothing godlike, no one has any powers, and it reads like a corporate romance.

I actually thought this did the grumpy/sunshine trope pretty well, in that I believed that they actually did grow to love each other despite their wildly different personalities. The dialogue was definitely cheesy though, and I really just don't get Demeter. Everyone keeps talking constantly about how much she loves her daughters, but not as much as her ambition. But selling your daughter without her consent isn't love? Like, she could have told her the plan and it probably would have gone over fine. And the bargain at the end seems completely paltry. I get sticking to the "6 months" theme, but like...that's it? I don't get why Persephone wouldn't just tell Hades that that was what she was proposing, since it seems so easy to agree to.

I did like it a lot more than I thought I would though, especially with how early the dungeon was mentioned. Will be reading the second one.

It was a good book and the spin of the story was good. There wasn't anything that set it aside from the other books that take the same story and spin it but I enjoyed it.
