Very entertaining but not my cup of tea. I didn’t like how we would learn information after it was important for us. Also sometimes the stakes of different conflicts didnt seem to make sense.
I... expected more worldbuilding. I didn't quite understand where they were living in time or location, and the development of Olympus felt very vague for a book that's almost 400 pages, so the stakes were also vague. What do the Thirteen do? If they aren't actual, literal gods and have all this power, what is the power? What does it look like? How is Hades a metaphorical king? What does he DO? It's such a big part of his identity, serving the under city, but like... we never learn what he does at work, what his paperwork entails, how this funds his income, and likewise, what makes Zeus the villain that he's supposed to be.
And I'd forgive that if they actually used some of the equipment in the sex dungeon or served me some angst or character growth or tension but... none.
It felt like fanfic fluff (which I don't mind objectively) which isn't how it's marketed. That wasn't what I was offered or signed up for.

It was okay, kinda like all the other Katee Roberts book. I like that it connects to her other villain villain. Because she did already have a hades retelling.
**Spoilers**
This was an alright book. That's it, simply alright. In my opinion, it was missing...something. I can't quite place it, but there wasn't much of an actual story involved. It was basically "lost woman, found, fall-in-love, overcome odds" with no story building in-between.
I thought this would be a sexy world-building series, and so far I've been let down. The seggsy scenes were good, but even as a basic smut series it's a let-down.
There are a few aspects I can appreciate.
While leaning heavily on those details, I just feel that there is so much more of the original lore that could have lent a hand in writing out the start of this series. While not a total disappointment, it was a major let-down. I'll be giving book #2 a try (after I've cleansed my palette a bit) in hopes that it can somewhat redeem my opinion of this series.

Spoiler
We're told that the people controlling the city are LIKE Gods( i.e. Aphrodite, Demeter, Zeus, etc), but don't explain much past that, aside from them being "chosen" to become the /next/ Zeus, Demeter, etc. No explanation on HOW they're chosen, when they're chosen, if their children are born/named with the names of the children of the Gods or if their children's names are changed once they've been chosen, etc. I could continue to go on.There are a few aspects I can appreciate.
Spoiler
I did appreciate how the original lore was followed to some extent. I.e. Persephone falling in-love with Hades, brining in Cerberus, Demeter demanding 6 appearances across the River Styx by Hades, details like these. While leaning heavily on those details, I just feel that there is so much more of the original lore that could have lent a hand in writing out the start of this series.
