Charlotte Brontë is my J.K. Rowling.

The prose in this one is as sweet as dessert.

A must read.

Nunca creí que me fuera a gustar tanto este libro!
AMO. LO VIVÍ DE PRINCIPIO A FIN. AMO AMOOOO.

I loved this book. Jane Eyre is an icon and a feminist. I love her.

I hate that I love the romance in this book. He is a toxic man, but he understands her and she understands him and knows exactly what he is but loves him anyway. I fell in love with them and routed for them, even when they broke my heart.

The book follows the trials and tribulations of a girl until nineteen years of her life. Overall, I really liked the book, though the verbose descriptions sometimes got to me (probably due to my impatience with life in general), while at other times really jogged my imagination. Though, once started, I didn't feel like keeping it down. I can honestly say, one of the great books that kept me hooked for the entire duration.

Incredible gothic book with so many twists and turns
I really enjoyed the themes of religion, duty, love, betrayal, isolation and loneliness.
From the get go Brontë paints Mrs Reed as a nasty family relation, and when we get midway through the book, it seems Mrs Reed has no redeeming qualities, and in fact impeded Jane’s chances of meeting her uncle in Madeira.
I loved the way Brontë makes readers believe Grace Poole is behind all the chaos and madness in Thornfield until we eventually find out it is Bertha behind all the menacing schemes to harm Rochester. It was by the far most climactic betrayal I’ve read in a book.
Rochester is a unlikeable character, highly manipulative and not romantic in the slightest, it was uncomfortable when he pretended to be a Gypsy, I do not understand why he tried convincing Jane he was to marry Miss Ingram, truly baffling.
I loved the stark contacted between Mr Rivers & Mr Rochester.
I wasn’t pleased with the ending, mainly because I wished so much more for Jane. Whilst she gained her independence and financial freedom, it feels she .. did nothing with her life then end up with the same manipulative guy who is double her age.
Mr Rochester is creepy AF. Jane deserved so much better.
Giving it a 5/5 because Brontë made me hate Rochester, and came up with some of the most brilliant plot twists of all time. Also John Rivers is her cousin?! And he asks her to marry him? WILD!

Felt like reading a classic, and since it had been ten years since I first read it, it felt right to revisit Jane Eyre. I think I must have read an abridged version in 2015 though, because especially the first third of this book felt very long. We only meet Mr Rochester on page 132…?!? But once I got into the main narrative, I loved it again. Jane is such a wild spirit and I am in awe of her strength and resilience. And I’d forgotten that mr Rochester dresses up as a fortune teller just to find out what Jane thinks of him - it’s hilarious!! And of course Jane’s speech, “I have as much soul as your and full as much heart” is still as wonderful as ten years ago. She’s a perfect heroine, so human in her struggles with her conscience and her feelings. The last few scenes had me laughing with joy at her joy and Mr Rochesters adorable jealousy and submission. The perfect classic to get back into reading classics
