Enjoyable YA romantasy. The author wove a creative and curious world of mortals and gods. The pace felt inconsistent to me and the story invited more questions than provided answers, but it was unique enough and the estate was intriguing enough that I would consider a revisit and recommendation to fans of the genre.
My main hesitation for a revisit is my distaste for reanimated dead.

“I wove your fate as I once knew it, but you've changed your fate several times over. You are a mystery to me. A sweetbrier, full of thorns in my side."

Overall I enjoyed Blythe and Aris’s characterization and their story. I appreciate Grace’s signature whimsical writing style, but my attention did wane throughout. Perhaps due to the books length, or when Blythe and Aris finally develop reciprocated feelings for each other, the mysterious side plots overshadowed their romance, leaving me feeling a bit cheated. I’m not sure I loved how this ended either.

While Belladonna remains my favorite in the series, it was delightful to return to this world.

My favorite of the series! I just love Blythe so much and was so glad to have a story that focused on her.

What a way to wrap up the main trilogy! While I struggled getting into this book in the first half, I found things really picked up plot-wise in the second half

Plus,,, that epilogue was just *chef’s kiss*

This should’ve been a spin-off. Agonizingly slow to read.

Almost another series completed! This one was so much better than the last one, it re-focuses more on the main storyline and still encapsulates a bit of mystery, which was nicely intertwined with the plot for this one and didn't feel as much as an afterthought.
The atmosphere is still beautifully written, a gothic, enchanting setting. The haunted manors, whispers of the dead, and romantic tension all make a return, and there are definitely moments that felt satisfying and full of that eerie charm.
That said, the pacing felt inconsistent. There were stretches that dragged but, and a lot of emotional weight from the previous books didn’t carry through here in the way I hoped. Overall, a pretty good finish to the series... for now!
